Hope Worship – September 19, 2021

Our culture has a fascination with debating about greatness. Who are the greatest athletes of all time? The greatest leaders? The greatest artists? In Mark 9:30-37, Jesus completely redefines greatness for His disciples past, present, and future. Whoever wants to be great and first must be last and servant of all. And Jesus will demonstrate that these are not just talking points, but they are the shape of His very life and mission which culminates with the cross.

Hope Worship – September 5, 2021

Our journey through 1 & 2 Peter concludes today. As Peter signs off, he encourages his readers to continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus, counting the time between their present circumstance and the return of the Lord as a sign of God’s patience and as an opportunity for others to hear of Jesus and be saved. As long as the Lord delays, we can be working on refining our craft, growing in character, and shining God’s light so that He might be glorified.

Hope Worship – August 29, 2021

Many people live with no clue that God is bringing the story of this world to a particular, magnificent goal, where He will judge evil once for all and usher in a new heavens and new earth. Peter urges his readers to know and live in light of that ultimate reality, fixing our hope on what God has promised to do in Jesus.

Hope Worship – August 22, 2021

Peter writes to warn Christians about the infiltration of false teachers – people who will preach a message of “freedom” that is in truth a path to slavery. The previous chapter talked about the light of Christ’s truth. When we know the truth and the freedom that are found in Jesus, we’ll be better able to identify, expose, and resist counterfeit offers of freedom. Today’s message is “Light Exposing Darkness” based on 2 Peter 2:1-22.

Hope Worship – August 15, 2021

In 2 Peter 1:16-21, Peter speaks to the certainty of his testimony about Jesus. He did not receive these things as myths or rumors, but was an eyewitness – specifically, he mentions the event of the Transfiguration. And just as Jesus shone with glory, so God’s Word shines in our lives and reveals what is really true. Today’s message is “The Light of Christ’s Truth” based on 2 Peter 1:16-21.
