In Matthew 7:24, at the end of His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says that the person who hears His words and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Now, in Matthew 16, Jesus promises to build His church on the rock of Peter’s confession: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” On what foundation are we building our lives, our hopes and our dreams: on the foundation of Jesus the Christ and His finished work, or on something else?
