The longer we walk with Christ and live within His church, perhaps the greater the temptation becomes to see ourselves as “insiders,” as people who have a right to belong. But our standing with Christ and our membership in the church is never a matter of status or deserving, but rather, grace. Today, we will be encouraged to view our relationship with Christ in light of the example of the Canaanite woman who pleads for her daughter. She has no claim on Jesus, but she persists by faith in His mercy, even for the outsiders. Today’s message is “Read the Bible like an Outsider,” based on Matthew 15:21-28.
